And here's mine:
"I don't care what you did last year, you're not bringing them through my china shop."

And here's my respone:
Pressed against the bridge's crumbling rock, he prayed for the soldier's voices to move off. Instead, he heard a splash.
He was trapped.

Both are great--first one, funny, second one, mysterious and scary...was it a grenade? A dead body? It makes me want to know more!
Have to agree with Pat, Dave! Love them both, but I have a "thing" about the mysterious ones and the second one makes me want to know more -- like Pat! Hope you have a great week!

Hi Dave ... laughed out loud at the first one.
Great hook with the second.

Well done! Both a provocative. Same shop owner as last year? Changed his policy? Rotter!
Some traditions should just be shelved after the first time, huh?
Nice one.
You know, that shop owner isn't very far sighted. He should have taken out insurance ... oh wait, he isn't American is he? Never mind.
I love the china shop reference
I just love your 'bull in a china shop' take!
I like the first one. You have thought outside the frame of the picture. (I've a lot of entries still to read, but yours is the first china shop)
I have to say your second one is one of my all time favorites ever! :O)
Wonder what he did last year? Good one!
I haven't had a chance to read many others, but I did wonder if we would be awash with china shops.
Thank you all for reading.
Quite an original take--very witty!
