Happy Birthday BBC

The British Broadcasting Corporation is seventy-five years old today.

The broadcaster that gave the world:

Adam and Joe's radio show, Ashes To Ashes, Big Train, Blackadder, Blake's 7, Casanova, Century Falls, The Chain Gang, Cruise Of The Gods, Dad's Army, Dangermouse, Dark Season, The Day Today, Dirk Gently, Doctor Who, Dr. Terrible's House Of Horrible, The Fast Show, Fawlty Towers, Funland, Gavin And Stacey, Ghostwatch, The Good Life, Gormenghast, The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, Human Remains, I'm Alan Partridge, Jarvis Cocker's Sunday Service, Knowing Me Knowing You With Alan Partridge, The League Of Gentlemen, Life On Mars, Look Around You, The Lord Of The Rings on radio, Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends, Lucifer Box on radio, Maid Marion And Her Merry Men, Marion and Geoff, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Mr Benn, Murder Most Horrid, Nebulous, Nighty Night, The Office, One Foot In The Grave, Our Friends In The North, Outnumbered, Party Animals, Porridge, Psychoville, QI, Quatermass, Red Dwarf, Roger And Val Have Just Got In, The Sarah Jane Adventures, Shaun The Sheep, Shooting Stars, Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle, Survivors, Sykes, The Thick Of It, Threads, Time Trumpet, Torchwood, 2point4children, Wallace and Gromit, Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister among others...

I love the BBC. It's one of the few things that makes me proud to be British, although Mitch Benn put it far better than I:

Happy Birthday Auntie Beeb.

Gotta love the BBC. It definitely shows a more unbiased view of American News and I appreciate that.

That's true.

I forget that we take the BBC's news output for granted.

The BBC strives for impartiality and naturally sometimes it falls short but because it isn't some propagandist state broadcaster nor is it mouthpiece of a company worried about shareholders or advertisers, it's the only broadcaster which even stands a chance of being impartial.
