I'm Sorry Dave, I'm Afraid I Can't Do That

The saga of problems I've been having with my laptop continues.

For years I happily typed away without issue and then one day it broke and then was fixed, after which the hard drive itself actually failed and needed to be replaced and it was fixed again. Thankfully I backed it up on an external hard drive, just not as often as I should have...
