A Dog's Life

Strontium Dog started life in Starlord, the first of 2000 AD's sister publications. It concerns a pair of 22nd Century bounty hunters, one a mutant whose eyes allow him to see through walls and read minds, the other an 8th Century Viking with a massive hammer. The strip was a sort of cross between SF dystopia and western, but with a very British slant and it's a strong contender for my favourite comic strip ever in the history of ever.

This week saw Strontium Dog join the ranks at Dredd Alert and I'm really looking forward to reading them all again.

Draw My Lives

This was the first thing I wrote for Bad Teeth. The Doctor draws his lives. To be honest, the Draw My Life phenomenon had passed me by, but it's essentially an illustrated autobiography. I should have posted this last November during the height of Doctor Who's big fiftieth anniversary celebrations, but I was busy writing my next script for Bad Teeth and had my eye off the blog a bit.

I should stress that although I wrote the script and described what I wanted to see drawn, I didn't do the artwork and my thanks go out to the artist whoever they may be.

Maybe I'll do another post with annotations to all the geeky details.

I wrote this before we, the audience, knew anything about John Hurt's Doctor and so that's why he is omitted. At the time of posting the video has been watched over 50,000 times and managed to spark a very odd debate in the comments that cited Lungbarrow, 9/11, Beavis And Butthead, Graeme Garden, Peter Davidson (sic) and contained the assertion that the "7th doctor wasen't scottish"

A Happy Belated Birthday to Doctor Who.

Cowboys Versus Dinosaurs

Another of the strips that Dredd Alert has covered is the tale of futuristic cowboys that travel back to the age of the dinosaur to farm them for their Flesh. What more could you want?

Old One Eye, a female Tyrannosaurus Rex bent on revenge, was a major character in Flesh and Judge Dredd subsequently featured the clone of her son resurrected with information taken from his DNA in a manner that effectively pre-empts Jurassic Park by twelve years.

The Gloaming

Sarah wrote this to accompany a series of photographs that she had taken. I was delighted that she asked me to read it.
