And here's my response:
It was going to be a long walk.
When she asked him to the Sadie Hawkins Dance, she hadn't thought about what to do if he actually said yes.

And from the Microfiction Monday archives, here's number three:

And here's my response:
She looked at her son.
She thought of his potential.
She was amazed by everything he did.
She just wished he wasn't quite so bloody blue.
In the first micro, love how you captured the tensions in tentative romance! And the second micro wonderfully creates a story from the colour tones of the image!
ReplyDeleteIt was going to be a long walk.
ReplyDeleteWhen she asked him to the Sadie Hawkins Dance, she hadn't thought about what to do if he actually said yes.
Well, it does look promising: he's saving his shoes for the rug cutting! (Let the good times roll, eh?!)
Two great interpretations! :O)
ReplyDeleteI never had the courage to ask anyone out to the Sadie Hawkins dance! They do look a bit silent here --
ReplyDeleteYou made me laugh with the second one.
Thanks!
I guess that makes us realize that we'd better be 'careful what we wish for'....LOL
ReplyDeleteHave a great week. Cheers!
Two great takes tonight.
ReplyDeleteHave not heard about Sadie Hawkins Day in a very long time.! Nice smile!
Very cute. I bet she would have worn different shoes too for the long walk.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, the old "what will you do with it if you actually get what you want" dilemma! She looks like a woman who can figure it out though!
ReplyDeleteShe didn't know what she'd do if he said yes. Looking at the picture she seems to be leading him somewhere.
ReplyDeleteMaybe with the second one, someone should be ringing up for some help.,
Those first moments of a first date are awkward, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteI guess neither of them have been on dates before, eh?
ReplyDeleteNot sure what's more uncomfortable - walking barefoot or tackling those heels!
ReplyDeleteLOL. How far did they have to walk and who is Sadie Hawkins? A brilliant microfiction.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week x
First dates can be tough. This is the perfect story to fit the picture.
ReplyDeleteI don't know who Sadie Hawkins was but she must have been a precocious young lady because the point of the dance named after her is that the girls are required to ask the boys. It's like feminism with foxtrots.
ReplyDeleteAs with everything I know about American culture, I learned it from TV, an episode of Buffy featured ghosts at a Sadie Hawkins dance, so apologies if I've gotten it wrong.
Your Sadie Hawkins take is very cute! I like it. The second one made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteSadie Hawkins is not for the faint of heart! Nice one, Dave--and have a great week.
ReplyDeleteReally cute. I'm sure she'll think of something :)
ReplyDeleteThanks again for reading
